Édouard Philippe to visit Mayotte for political program
Former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe is scheduled to visit Mayotte on Friday, August 21, and Saturday, August 22, 2026.
On Friday, Philippe will meet with Prefect Frédéric Poisot to discuss measures for combating illegal immigration. His itinerary includes meetings with border police, the nautical unit, and the Operational Support Group (GAO). He is also scheduled to visit the Administrative Detention Center (CRA) and meet with local officials, including Ben Issa Ousseni, President of the Department-Region of Mayotte, and the Mayor of Mamoudzou, Ambdilwahedou Soumaila.
On Saturday, the visit will focus on local infrastructure and economic development. Philippe will meet with the Mayotte Water Union, visit the Combani hill reservoir, and engage with agricultural actors at the Union des Coopératives Agricoles de Mayotte (UCOOPAM). Additionally, he will inspect a kindergarten in Mangajou threatened by erosion, visit reconstruction sites in Sada, and meet with economic stakeholders at the Dembéni Technopole.
