Douarnenez maritime festival marks 40th anniversary in 2026

The Fêtes maritimes de Douarnenez celebrated their 40th edition in July 2026, opening the town’s quays in Finistère, France to dozens of sailing crews. The event honoured the memory of navigator Marie Agnès Péron, who disappeared during the 1991 Mini Transat and after whom the Marie Agnès Péron dock was named. Participants anchored at the Tréboul marina, explored the historic port‑museum, and enjoyed a series of stands and animations organized by the local SNSM rescue service.

The festival featured a regatta with notable vessels such as the J‑class boats Mariquita and Moonbeam, and offered crew meals, breakfasts, and evening gatherings on the dock. The celebrations highlighted the town’s maritime heritage and attracted sailors familiar with regional events like the Gulf‑of‑Guinée week and the Fête de la Rance.
