DOUBLE 5K to replace SIE+ER Lauf in Vienna

The long-running SIE+ER Lauf is being rebranded as the DOUBLE 5K. Scheduled for November 15, 2026, the event will transition from a 4K + 4K format to a 5K + 5K relay format.

In this team event, two participants share a total distance of 10K. One runner completes the first 5K and hands over to their partner via a handshake in a transition zone, after which the second runner completes the remaining 5K. The combined time of both runners determines the team's total time. The race will take place on the flat, AIMS-measured course at the Wiener Prater Hauptallee in Vienna.

Organized by the Österreichischer Frauenlauf team, the event has a history dating back to 1984. The new format allows for mixed, women's, or men's teams. Organizer Ilse Dippmann stated that the change aims to modernize the event while maintaining its core character of two people running for one another to reach a shared goal.
