Violence in Colombia and Venezuela leaves multiple dead

In Pereira, Colombia, a shooting in the Villa Verde sector resulted in three deaths. Giorgina Azócar López, a 24-year-old Venezuelan national, and her companion, Valentín Hoyos González, were killed in an apparent attack motivated by jealousy. The suspect, identified as Azócar’s former partner Diego Alfonso López Umaña, sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and died later at the Hospital Universitario San Jorge.

In Chivacoa, Venezuela, a separate incident of gender-based violence occurred at a shoe store. Celis Daniela Monterrey, 34, died from injuries sustained after being attacked with a chair by her partner during a dispute. The suspect reportedly surrendered to authorities following the attack.
