Double Shooting Kills Two Inmates at Camaragibe Sports Gym

On the morning of July 30, 2026, two men were shot dead inside the Aluízio Rocha Sports Gym in Vila da Fábrica, Camaragibe, part of the Recife metropolitan area. The victims, identified as 34‑year‑old Arthur Antônio de Lima Amorim and 28‑year‑old Luiz Fernando Fraga Monteiro, were working as cleaners and were serving sentences under a semi‑open regime, wearing electronic ankle bracelets.

At least three armed men arrived in a black vehicle, opened fire with more than 30 shots, and fled. Arthur died on the spot; Luiz Fernando was taken to a health unit but later succumbed to his injuries. Children and other patrons were present during the attack, which also damaged the building’s walls. Police are investigating the motive and have not yet released further details.
