Doubleview Gold seeks Canadian support for Hat Project scandium development
Doubleview Gold has formally approached Canadian federal and British Columbia provincial leaders to seek support for its Hat Project in northwestern British Columbia. The company submitted a Strategic Policy Brief requesting domestic infrastructure funding, streamlined permitting, and integration into cross-border defense supply chains.
This move follows a US$400 million conditional loan commitment from the U.S. Department of War’s Office of Strategic Capital to Sunrise Energy Metals. That funding is intended to support the Syerston Scandium Project in New South Wales, establishing a mine-to-metal supply chain aligned with U.S. interests. Scandium is a critical mineral used in heat-resistant aluminum alloys for aerospace and defense applications.
The Hat Project’s preliminary economic assessment (PEA) reports measured and indicated resources containing 2,415 tonnes of scandium oxide, 80.1 million pounds of cobalt, and 609 million tonnes of copper equivalent. The PEA estimates an after-tax net present value of C$6.73–7.27 billion, though the company notes that these figures are preliminary and do not establish mineral reserves or demonstrated economic viability.
