Doug Gillin Appointed to College Football Playoff Selection Committee

The College Football Playoff (CFP) Management Committee has named Appalachian State University athletic director Doug Gillin to the CFP Selection Committee for a three‑year term covering the 2026, 2027 and 2028 seasons. He will replace Dr. Bryan Maggard, who moved to a senior role at Missouri.

CFP executive director Rich Clark praised Gillin as a “highly respected leader” with extensive experience and a strong commitment to student‑athletes. Gillin has overseen Appalachian State’s rise from the FCS to the FBS, guiding the Mountaineers to multiple Sun Belt championships, a top‑25 final CFP ranking in 2019, and a record of winning bowl games in each of their first six eligible FBS seasons. He previously served on the NCAA Division I Football Oversight Committee (2020‑23) and held athletic administration positions at Missouri, Lehigh, New Mexico, Syracuse and ISP Sports/IMG College.
