Doug Putland wins $44 million Saskatchewan lottery jackpot

Doug Putland, a retired father from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, has won a $44 million Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball jackpot. The win, which occurred during an August 8 draw, is the largest jackpot in the province since 2022.

Putland purchased the winning ticket in Rosthern while traveling to a Saskatchewan Roughriders football game. He expressed that the windfall will provide long-term security for his three daughters and nine grandchildren, ensuring they do not face issues such as educational debt.

At a celebration held in Saskatoon, Putland shared that his first purchase was a dream vehicle, a GMC Denali Ultimate. He also intends to use a portion of the winnings for charitable purposes, including renovating a local baseball field in memory of his late cousin.
