Douglas Boateng receives IMM Institute Supply Chain Lifetime Achievement Award

Professor Douglas K. Boateng has been named the recipient of the 2026 IMM Institute Supply Chain Lifetime Achievement Award. Since the institute’s establishment in 1948, Boateng is only the second individual to receive this distinction.

Recognized for nearly three decades of work in academia, industry advisory, and public policy, Boateng is described as Africa’s first Professor Extraordinaire in Supply Chain Management. IMM Institute CEO Irene Gregory noted his significant role in elevating the strategic importance of supply chains across the continent, particularly in South Africa.

In accepting the award, Boateng emphasized the necessity of integrated supply chains to support African industrialization. He noted that such infrastructure is essential for maximizing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and achieving the goals of the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
