Douglas Cobb wanted for murder in fatal Toms River Wawa shooting
Authorities in Toms River, New Jersey, are searching for 51-year-old Douglas Cobb, who is wanted for the fatal shooting of Bruce Gress. The incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. on September 18, 2026, at a Wawa convenience store located at Route 37 and Garfield Avenue.
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Gress, 42, was shot in the head while sitting in a truck. He was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he was pronounced dead.
Cobb, who also uses the name Douglas Green and the nickname 'Bootknock', faces charges of murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and being a certain person not to possess a weapon. He remains a fugitive and was last seen driving a black 2016 Acura MDX with New Jersey license plate T93YJL.
