Douglas Franco Teixeira to be released following assault investigation

Douglas Franco Teixeira, a former FC Twente defender, is set to be released from pretrial detention following allegations of domestic violence. The incident reportedly occurred approximately two weeks ago at a residential tower in Enschede during a visit related to child visitation arrangements with his ex-partner.

The Public Prosecution Service initially intended to charge Teixeira with attempted manslaughter and sought to extend his pretrial detention by three months. However, his defense attorney, Umut Ural, argued that the incident should be classified at most as attempted heavy assault. The court sided with the defense, ruling that Teixeira may await the remainder of the investigation in freedom.

Teixeira denies all allegations regarding the incident. He currently works at the FC Twente academy.
