Douglas Ruas campaigns in Rio, vows faster business permits and coffee sector revival

Pre‑candidate for Rio de Janeiro governor Douglas Ruas visited the Saara market in downtown Rio, meeting merchants, the market’s president and local officials. He called for cutting the time to open a company by half and setting a maximum response deadline from the state, while also stressing the need for better security against energy theft and cargo robbery.

Ruas later travelled to Barra do Piraí and Vassouras in the state’s Vale do Café, where he listened to coffee growers and rural producers. He proposed a state policy to promote the Rio coffee brand, boost the value chain and link agriculture with tourism. He highlighted the region’s growth from 35,000 coffee plants to one million in two years and pledged support for health‑care partnerships and infrastructure projects.
