Douglas Ruas proposes social welfare policies for Rio de Janeiro
Douglas Ruas, the PL candidate for Governor of Rio de Janeiro, has outlined several social priorities during his campaign tour. In Volta Redonda, Ruas emphasized combating violence against women by promoting financial independence and proposing the creation of Women's Health Centers across the state to provide care for various life stages.
During an inclusion event in Rio de Janeiro, Ruas criticized public spending on large-scale festivities, arguing that resources should instead support vulnerable populations. He proposed a coordinated state policy for people with disabilities in partnership with municipalities, including the creation of regional hubs and multidisciplinary teams. Additionally, Ruas pledged to establish a state support network for 'atypical mothers'—those caring for children with disabilities—to provide professional qualification and assistance to alleviate the exhaustion of solo caregiving.
