Douglas Ruas pushes road upgrades and tourism events in Rio de Janeiro’s interior

Pre‑candidate for Rio de Janeiro governor Douglas Ruas visited Nova Friburgo, touring the Stam lock and hardware factory – the largest lock‑making plant in Latin America, which employs about 1,500 people. He highlighted proposals to stimulate job creation and regional development, citing the plant’s role in the state’s economy.

Ruas also attended the Expo Cordeiro agricultural fair, calling for a modernised interior road network under his "Estrada Boa" programme and the establishment of an annual calendar of events in the state’s exposition parks. He argued that better roads would reduce isolation after accidents and boost tourism, while regular fairs would attract visitors year‑round and generate additional employment. Local mayors, deputies and business leaders joined the discussion.
