Dourados health updates: Dengue vaccine access and Chikungunya decline
In Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, a new state resolution allows residents who received their first dose of the dengue vaccine through a local special project to complete their vaccination schedule in other municipalities across the state. The project, a partnership between the Dourados City Hall, Takeda, and the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS), offered the vaccine to a broader age range (4 to 59 years) than the national strategy. To receive the second dose, individuals must present proof of their first dose administered in Dourados and a personal identification document at participating municipal health units.
Simultaneously, the Dourados Public Health Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported a reduction in Chikungunya cases. During the 39th epidemiological week, 37 suspected cases were recorded with 9 confirmed infections. While the municipality remains in a state of public health emergency due to the epidemic, current figures show a significant decrease compared to the peak of the outbreak. To date, the city has recorded 5,267 confirmed cases and 19 deaths related to Chikungunya complications.
