Dourados launches Pink October cancer prevention campaign

The City of Dourados has launched its Pink October programming through the Municipal Health Secretariat. The campaign focuses on the prevention and early diagnosis of breast and cervical cancers.

This year, the initiative places special emphasis on elderly women, noting that 42% of breast cancer diagnoses in the municipality are concentrated among women aged 50 to 64. Activities include educational workshops, health guidance, and access to medical services.

Local health units, such as the Cabeceira Alegre Basic Health Unit, are hosting community events, including discussions on healthy eating, emotional health, and the rights of cancer patients. The program also involves collaboration with nursing interns from Anhanguera and medical students from the Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD).
