Douyin cracks down on fake videos in China

Chinese authorities and the short-video platform Douyin have launched a crackdown on internet streamers producing and distributing fake, sensationalized videos to drive views and profit.

In response to the surge of low-quality and manipulated content, Douyin has taken aggressive regulatory measures. So far this year, the platform has forcibly shut down 340,000 live-streaming channels and banned 40,000 harmful accounts to address the social controversy surrounding these deceptive practices.
