Dover man sentenced to 12 years for child sexual abuse

Barry Milburn, 46, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison following a series of sexual offences against a child victim in Dover. Milburn pleaded guilty to nine offences, including two counts of rape, at Canterbury Crown Court.

The crimes were discovered in December 2024 after the victim disclosed the abuse. Following an investigation by Kent Police, Milburn was arrested and subsequently charged in March 2026. In addition to his custodial sentence, the court imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and Milburn will remain on the sex offender register for life. He must also serve one year on licence following his release.
