Dovetail Games integrates Japanese cultural heritage into new Train Sim World DLC

Dovetail Games has released a new DLC for Train Sim World that features Japan’s Tadami Line, located in the Fukushima Prefecture. This release marks the first time a Japanese railway has appeared in the series.

The project includes a collaboration with Kaoru Kashū, a Japanese artist, journalist, and calligrapher. Kashū created physical calligraphy artwork inspired by the railway route, highlighting the intersection of gaming technology and traditional art.

The partnership also draws attention to ‘onnade’ or ‘women’s hand’, a traditional Japanese calligraphy style developed by women during the Heian period. Women in Games notes that such interactive experiences can serve as cultural ambassadors by introducing players to global traditions and landscapes.
