Dow Jones hits intraday record amid US‑Iran peace optimism and market volatility

The Dow Jones industrial average surged to a new intraday high on Tuesday as investors weighed optimism over a provisional peace agreement between the United States and Iran, which eased concerns about global energy supplies and helped pull oil prices lower.

SpaceX jumped nearly 9.5% after announcing a $60 billion acquisition of software developer Anysphere, propelling it past Amazon to become the fifth‑most valuable U.S. company. The technology sector showed mixed performance, with storage makers Western Digital and Seagate posting gains while the broader tech index slipped.

Cryptocurrencies also fell, with Bitcoin down about 1.5% to $65,762 and Ethereum sliding 1.6% on the back of a tech sell‑off in New York and renewed regulatory scrutiny of Binance in the European Union. Market participants await the Federal Reserve’s interest‑rate decision, expected to keep rates unchanged in the 3.50%‑3.75% range.
