Down Syndrome Victoria launches new dementia resources
Down Syndrome Victoria has launched a new dementia webpage and specialized resources designed for individuals with Down syndrome, their families, carers, and health professionals. The initiative includes two primary resources: ‘Ageing Well Starts Young: Resistance and Resilience to Dementia’ and ‘Pathways to Care: Down Syndrome and Dementia’. These materials provide guidance on brain health, recognizing symptoms, and navigating specialist services.
The project was co-designed with community members and health professionals, supported by partners including Dementia Australia, Monash Memory Clinic, and the Centre for Developmental Disability Health. Funding for the initiative was provided by the Department of Social Services.
