Downhill Mountain Biking: Goldstone misses finals as Farina retires
The Downhill Mountain Biking World Cup sees significant shifts as Jackson Goldstone fails to reach the finals in Whistler and Eleonora Farina announces her retirement.
Jackson Goldstone, the reigning world champion, was eliminated from the first DH World Cup held in Whistler after a crash in qualifying run one (Q1). Under the new 2025 format, riders must qualify through Q1 or a second qualifying run (Q2) to reach the final. Despite a second attempt, Goldstone was unable to secure one of the ten available spots in Q2, missing the final in his home region.
In a separate development, Italian rider Eleonora Farina has announced her retirement from Downhill racing after more than a decade of competition. At 35 years old, Farina concluded her career at Val di Sole, marking her twelfth consecutive World Championship appearance. Her career highlights include 13 World Cup podiums and a historic victory in Les Gets in 2024.
