DP World acquires six GXO grocery logistics sites in the United Kingdom

DP World will take over six contract‑logistics facilities from GXO Logistics in September, adding more than two million square feet of warehouse space and roughly 2,000 employees to its UK network. The sites – five in England and one in Northern Ireland – serve major grocery retailers Asda, Sainsbury’s and the Co‑op and handle ambient, chilled, frozen and bonded storage for about 46,000 unique products.

The transfer satisfies a condition imposed by the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) when it approved GXO’s acquisition of Wincanton. DP World says the acquisition expands its contract‑logistics footprint and strengthens its end‑to‑end supply‑chain offering, linking ports, transport, warehousing and distribution under a single platform. "We are delighted to welcome these six sites and the talented teams who operate them into DP World," said Angela Howard, Vice President of Contract Logistics, North Europe.

The move positions DP World to provide integrated logistics services for grocery, retail and consumer sectors across the UK, enhancing its ability to manage complex temperature‑controlled supply chains for food products.
