DP World Cochin Terminal Hits Record Throughput of 77,637 TEUs in May

DP World Cochin’s International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) in Kerala recorded its highest monthly throughput in May 2026, handling 77,637 twenty‑foot equivalent units (TEUs). The volume represents a 4% year‑to‑date increase over the same period last year despite ongoing geopolitical challenges, and included a record transshipment figure of 28,000 TEUs.

The terminal managed 17 additional vessel calls during the month and continued infrastructure upgrades, raising power capacity from 3 MVA to 5 MVA and fully electrifying yard equipment, which has cut emissions. DP World also opened Kerala’s first Free Trade Warehousing Zone co‑located within the port, aimed at streamlining EXIM trade and supporting regional economic growth. The facility serves as a strategic gateway linking India’s east‑ and west‑coast ports and providing direct connectivity to major global markets.
