DP World explores potential entry into Port of Las Palmas
DP World, the Dubai-based logistics giant, is reportedly exploring a potential entry into the Port of Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. While no official investment has been announced or deal closed, sources indicate that discussions involving local operators have been ongoing since 2025.
This interest follows a significant shift in the regional maritime landscape. In December 2025, Marsa Maroc, a subsidiary of Morocco’s primary port operator, acquired a 45% stake in Boluda Maritime Terminals for 80 million euros. This transaction, which includes nine Spanish terminals, aims to strengthen the maritime corridor between Morocco and Spain.
The potential involvement of United Arab Emirates capital in the Canary Islands highlights a growing convergence of international interests in the mid-Atlantic maritime routes connecting Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
