DP World India Championship faces weather and light delays in Delhi

The DP World India Championship at the Delhi Golf Club has faced significant disruptions due to weather and lighting. Torrential rain caused a five-hour delay during the opening round, and fading light forced the suspension of the second round with half the field unable to finish.

Tournament leaders include Angel Hidalgo, Adrian Meronk, and Joost Luiten at eight under par, alongside Thomas Detry. Rory McIlroy, currently at four under, has drawn criticism from golfer Kevin Kisner. Kisner alleged on the ‘Fore Play’ podcast that McIlroy’s stated goal of expanding the game globally is a cover for high appearance fees, noting that McIlroy has opted not to use his driver on the tight course.

Other key players include Patrick Reed, the current Race to Dubai leader, who sits at level par. Robert MacIntyre, playing on a last-minute invitation, is fighting to secure a position in the top 70 of the Race to Dubai to qualify for the season play-offs.
