DP World invests EUR 50 million in German logistics expansion

DP World has commenced a EUR 50 million expansion of its chemical logistics center in Wolfenbüttel, Germany. The investment focuses on two primary infrastructure developments: a new rail terminal and a 30,000-square-meter warehouse specifically designed for the storage of lithium-ion batteries.

The new rail terminal is intended to be the first of its kind in the region designed for the transport of dangerous goods. By providing specialized handling for chemicals, the company aims to shift a larger proportion of freight flows from road to rail, connecting the German hub to DP World’s broader European and global logistics networks.

The expansion into lithium-ion battery storage is designed to support the growing automotive sector and the transition to electric vehicles. Additionally, the project is expected to create up to 80 jobs in the region while continuing to serve existing customers in the agricultural industry.
