DP World plans Egyptian port expansion after meeting with investment authority

On July 29, 2026, Mohamed Awad, chief executive of Egypt's General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), met with a delegation from DP World, the Dubai‑based global port operator.

The discussions focused on DP World’s plans to broaden its presence in the Egyptian market, including new terminals, logistics hubs, storage and distribution centres, and integrated supply‑chain services. Both sides highlighted Egypt’s strategic location, competitive market and modern infrastructure as investment drivers, while GAFI pledged institutional support and a single‑window contact point to accelerate project approvals. DP World referenced its existing operation at the Ain Sokhna port on the Red Sea and its intent to expand further.
