DP World signs MOU to potentially expand Canada’s Port of Churchill

Dubai-based logistics giant DP World has signed a memorandum of understanding with Arctic Gateway Group and CentrePort Canada to explore the development and expansion of the Port of Churchill in Manitoba.

The agreement focuses on port operations and the potential creation of a transportation corridor to link the Arctic seaport with DP World’s global logistics network. The project aims to utilize the Hudson Bay Railway to connect the port with inland facilities, potentially establishing a gateway for exporting Canadian resources—such as grain, potash, liquefied natural gas, and critical minerals—to Europe and the Middle East.

This initiative aligns with Canadian efforts to diversify trade routes and build infrastructure that is not solely dependent on the United States. The Port of Churchill serves as North America’s only deep-water Arctic seaport. The development follows recent efforts to strengthen economic ties between Canada and the United Arab Emirates.
