DPD Polska implements accessibility upgrades for parcel lockers

DPD Polska has implemented accessibility upgrades to its DPD Pickup parcel lockers and DPD Mobile application following a comprehensive study conducted in collaboration with Gdynia Maritime University and the Polish Association of the Blind. This initiative represents the first accessibility audit of its kind for parcel lockers in Poland.

The study involved experiments with individuals with various disabilities, including those with visual impairments, mobility limitations, and wheelchair users. Researchers also utilized aging simulation suits to identify barriers faced by senior citizens.

Based on the findings, DPD has lowered pin-pad panels on all DPD Pickup machines to accommodate users in wheelchairs or those with limited hand mobility. The company also added tactile markings to assist with panel location and established an ‘Easy Access Zone’ featuring lockers positioned at a height of 80 cm to improve usability for people with limited mobility and seniors.
