DPD UK expands electric van fleet with 341 Mercedes-Benz eSprinters

DPD UK is expanding its electric vehicle fleet by adding 341 Mercedes-Benz eSprinters, bringing its total number of electric vehicles to over 4,000. The new vans are scheduled to enter service in September, with full operational capacity expected by the end of October to support the upcoming Christmas peak period.

The deployment will cover areas within the M25 and various locations across the United Kingdom. According to Olly Craughan, head of sustainability at DPD UK, the eSprinters provide the same payload capacity as 3.5t diesel models while offering improved range and battery technology, allowing for lower-emission deliveries over wider areas.

In 2025, DPD reported delivering more than 85 million parcels using electric vehicles. The company's current EV operations span more than 7,300 UK postcodes, focusing on reducing air pollution in inner-city locations.
