DPR Commission V inspects Makassar Port services

Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) conducted a site visit to Makassar Port in South Sulawesi to inspect safety, security, and service quality standards.

The delegation, led by Commission V Vice Chairman Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras and member Hamka B. Kady, met with officials from PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) and the Ministry of Transportation. The visit serves as part of the DPR's oversight function regarding infrastructure and transportation sectors that directly impact public interest.

Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras emphasized that safety and security are non-negotiable, noting that service quality must be continuously improved to ensure port activities remain safe, orderly, comfortable, and efficient. The meeting provided a platform for dialogue regarding the readiness of facilities and infrastructure to support sustainable improvements in maritime transportation services.
