DPR RI Budget Committee Chairman urges accurate data for subsidies

Said Abdullah, Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Budget Committee, has emphasized the urgent need for accurate decile data to ensure government subsidy programs reach the correct recipients. During a working committee meeting with the government and Bank Indonesia in Jakarta, Abdullah highlighted persistent issues with inclusion and exclusion errors in data collection.

He noted that many eligible citizens are being left out of subsidy programs, while those who do not qualify are receiving benefits due to data inaccuracies. Abdullah pointed out that these discrepancies have been a recurring problem from the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTSK) era through to the current National Single Social and Economic Data (DTSN).

To address these challenges, Abdullah urged the government to adopt more advanced technologies, such as biometric identification including fingerprints or retina scans, to improve verification processes and ensure subsidies are effectively targeted.
