DPR RI member supports forensic audit of Hajj funds
Maman Imanulhaq, a member of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and Deputy Chairman of the PKB Faction, has expressed support for a forensic audit of Hajj fund management. He emphasized that the audit is intended to ensure transparency, accountability, and Sharia compliance for the millions of pilgrims involved, rather than to search for wrongdoing.
Imanulhaq praised the readiness of the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) to open its data and documents for the examination, noting that such openness is a vital part of public institution governance. He argued that a forensic audit should not be viewed as a suspicion of violations, but as a mechanism to strengthen public trust and protect the long-term interests of the community.
Furthermore, he stated that a forensic audit does not contradict the BPKH's previous achievement of receiving Unqualified Opinions (WTP) on its financial reports. He noted that while WTP is an important milestone, it does not preclude other forms of examination, and both serve different roles within a system of checks and balances.
