DPR RI pressured to ensure employment certainty for non-ASN teachers
The Forum for Advocacy of Non-ASN Teachers in Public Schools (FAGRI) has met with leaders of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) to demand employment certainty for non-ASN or honorary teachers. The group is seeking clarity regarding their professional status following the expiration of current assignment mandates on December 31, 2026, as stipulated by Circular Letter (SE) Number 7 of 2026 from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
FAGRI representatives expressed concern that current discussions have focused heavily on part-time and full-time Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) schemes, while leaving the specific future of non-ASN teachers unaddressed. Members of Commission X of the DPR RI have committed to monitoring the situation through 2027 to ensure that the transition does not merely result in administrative changes but provides permanent employment security and welfare for educators.
