DPR RI urges data updates and increased funding for PIP education aid

Members of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) are calling for improvements to government education assistance programs, specifically the Program Indonesia Pintar (PIP) and Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP) Kuliah.

Rycko Menoza emphasized the need to update the decile system within the National Single Socio-Economic Data (DTSEN). He noted that inaccurate data often results in eligible families being overlooked for assistance. He urged the public to provide honest information during BPS censuses to ensure data accuracy.

Additionally, Muhamad Nur Purnamasidi urged the government to increase the PIP assistance index, arguing that current amounts are insufficient to meet actual educational costs. Based on 2024 BPS data, current assistance covers only approximately 9.87% of annual costs for elementary students, 10.22% for junior high students, and 17.66% for senior high/vocational students. Purnamasidi stated that increasing these benefits is a state responsibility to ensure equitable educational opportunities.
