DPR urges Polri to strictly investigate forest and land fires

Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III member Endang Agustina has expressed support for the Indonesian National Police (Polri) following the identification of 72 suspects in recent forest and land fires (karhutla).

While praising the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) for its actions, Agustina urged law enforcement to remain cautious and strictly adhere to the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) and environmental laws, noting the complexity of proving such cases. She also called for increased cooperation between law enforcement and local governments to prevent new fire outbreaks through continuous public socialization regarding fire hazards.
