DPRD DIY holds book discussion on online gambling dangers

The Yogyakarta Special Region Library and Archives Service (DPAD DIY), in collaboration with the DIY Regional House of Representatives (DPRD DIY), held a book discussion in Kulonprogo to educate the public on the dangers of online gambling and online loans.

The event featured the book ‘Menang Sekejap Lost Forever: Fenomena Tragis Judi Online yang Menjerat 4 Juta Orang Indonesia’, which examines how online gambling affects millions of Indonesians. Ika Damayanti Fatma Negara, a member of Commission D of the DPRD DIY, emphasized that online gambling often leads to predatory online loan cycles, causing systemic damage to individuals, families, and local economic stability.

Organizers targeted rural communities to improve literacy rates and provide direct social education. The initiative aims to encourage community vigilance and involve local leaders to motivate citizens and prevent the social and psychological impacts of gambling addiction.
