DPRD DIY promotes literacy to boost MSME competitiveness
The Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), in collaboration with the Regional Library and Archives Office (DPAD), has launched book discussion events aimed at strengthening literacy among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
In Pakualaman, discussions focused on how understanding market phenomena and digital technology can help traders maximize profits. Participants explored how local tourism potential can be integrated with local identity, using examples like the Malioboro area in Yogyakarta as an inspiration for other regions. The sessions also addressed the economic impacts of competitive property and hotel pricing on local land values.
In Bantul, a separate session centered on the book ‘UMKM Naik Kelas: Dari Bisnis Usaha Kecil Menuju Daya Saing’. Officials emphasized that increasing knowledge in business management and digital marketing is essential for MSMEs to expand their market reach and strengthen the local economy. The initiative seeks to foster a culture of reading as a tool for practical skill development and continuous innovation.
