DPU recommends income verification changes for UFAC Medicine entrance exam

The Public Defender's Office (DPU) in Rio Branco has issued a recommendation to the Federal University of Acre (UFAC) to improve income verification procedures for its Medicine course selection process. The goal is to prevent low-income candidates from losing reserved spots due to formal documentation errors and to reduce the number of legal disputes.

During the 2026 selection process, several qualified candidates had their income verification denied due to pending documents, leading to court appeals, delayed starts to classes, and administrative reorganization for the university.

The DPU recommends that UFAC allow the submission of missing documents during the appeal phase for all categories, including fee waivers and disability status. Other suggestions include accepting CadÚnico information, reinstating bank statements and income tax returns as valid proof, and providing specific details in provisional results regarding which family member's documentation is missing.
