Dr. Abdullah Erzurum warns of serious spinal health symptoms

Dr. Abdullah Erzurum, a neurosurgery specialist at Medical Point Gaziantep Hospital, has issued warnings regarding the management of back and neck pain. He noted that while these pains are common, not every instance of pain indicates a herniated disc or the necessity for surgery.

Erzurum emphasized that various conditions, including spinal calcification, spinal stenosis, and spinal curvatures, can cause similar symptoms. He advised that patients should be particularly vigilant for neurological warning signs. Specifically, sudden or increasing loss of strength in the arms or legs, numbness, tingling, or loss of bladder and bowel control are critical symptoms that require immediate medical attention to prevent serious nerve or spinal cord compression.
