Dr. Annie Vaillant advocates for women facing cancer

Dr. Annie Vaillant, a Puerto Rican obstetrician-gynecologist, has integrated her personal experience as an ovarian cancer patient into her medical practice. After being diagnosed in 2017, just two years into her career, Vaillant navigated multiple recurrences, surgeries, and treatments while continuing to care for her patients at the Instituto Ginecológico de Puerto Rico.

Her journey has driven her toward medical advocacy. She has collaborated with the American Cancer Society and Fundación Corazón Abierto to support cancer patients and served as the Latin American patient representative for the international ‘Every Woman Study’ focused on ovarian cancer. In 2024, she was featured in NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises’ ‘Mujeres Imparables’ edition.
