Dr Bitrus-Atizwen Daniel elected Taraba State NMA chairman

The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Taraba State Branch held its Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference in Jalingo, where Dr Bitrus‑Atizwen Daniel was elected chairman, succeeding Dr Adamu Hamidu Kara. In his acceptance speech, Daniel pledged to improve members’ welfare, strengthen engagement with the state government, and enhance healthcare delivery across Taraba.

He identified key challenges for doctors in the state, including a shortage of medical personnel, increasing workloads, brain‑drain, inadequate health infrastructure, security concerns and rising public expectations. Daniel said the association would work constructively with government and stakeholders to address these issues, emphasizing integrity, transparency and accountability. The election was announced in a statement by the newly appointed public‑relations officer, Dr Bright Ekhibise.
