Dr. Bratan Shukerov Hospital in Smolyan hires nine new nurses

Nine newly graduated nurses are set to begin working at the Dr. Bratan Shukerov Hospital in Smolyan on October 1. The new staff members will be assigned to several critical departments, including Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Neurology, Surgery, Traumatology, and Infectious Diseases.

The recruitment is the result of a successful partnership between the hospital and Thracian University in Stara Zagora, a collaboration established in 2020 when the hospital received accreditation for clinical training in healthcare. This “learning through work” model allows students from their first through fourth years to gain experience in a real hospital environment.

The nine nurses were part of a group of 14 fourth-year students who conducted their clinical training at the Smolyan facility. Five additional students are expected to graduate soon. Chief Nurse Diana Surova noted that the new arrivals provide a “breath of fresh air” for the hospital, as the staff are already familiar with the organization and specific workflows of the departments where they trained.
