Dr. Christopher Kerr reveals findings on end-of-life experiences
Dr. Christopher Kerr, a hospice physician, neurobiologist, and CEO of Hospice & Palliative Care of Buffalo, has conducted extensive research into end-of-life experiences (ELEs). Based on interviews with nearly 1,500 patients, his findings indicate that approximately 90% of people experience intense dreams or visions as they approach death.
These experiences are described by patients as vivid, real, and distinct from metaphorical dreams. Common themes include feelings of love and comfort, a sense of preparing for travel, and interactions with deceased loved ones. Dr. Kerr notes that these visions often provide significant comfort and help lessen the fear of death. His work, including the book ‘Death Is But A Dream’, aims to destigmatize the dying process and reframe the medical understanding of the end-of-life experience.
