DR Congo attracts young football talents Banzuzi and Mbamba
Several young football talents are opting to represent the Democratic Republic of the Congo, shifting their sporting nationality away from European nations.
Ezechiel Banzuzi, a 21-year-old midfielder currently playing for RB Leipzig, has decided to represent the DR Congo. Banzuzi, who previously earned five appearances for the Netherlands Under-21 side, chose to honor his parents' country of origin. He has recently seen playing time in the Bundesliga and has contributed both goals and assists in domestic cup competitions.
Similarly, 21-year-old midfielder Noah Mbamba has initiated the formal procedure to switch his sporting nationality to the DR Congo. Mbamba, who was trained in the Belgian youth systems at clubs including KRC Genk and Club Brugge, is currently on loan at Lorient from Bayer Leverkusen. Reports indicate that Mbamba and teammate Junior Kadile have visited the Congolese embassy in Brussels to begin the administrative process, potentially making Mbamba available for selection during upcoming international fixtures.
