Tshisekedi urges inclusive dialogue to end eastern DRC conflict
On 22 July, Congolese Minister of Regional Integration Floribert Anzuluni delivered a confidential message from President Félix Tshisekedi to European Union officials in Belgium, highlighting the security crisis in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Tshisekedi has announced an inclusive national dialogue aimed at reunifying the country, ending the war in the east and restoring state authority. He called for the participation of all stakeholders, including opposition parties, former President Joseph Kabila, the rebel group M23, religious leaders and the broader civil society.
Political formations such as the C64 coalition, the RCET‑CPS and the ECO party publicly endorsed the dialogue, urging a united front against what they described as Rwandan aggression. Former Guinean President Alpha Condé is reported to have acted behind the scenes to facilitate the talks, leveraging regional diplomatic links.
The dialogue is presented as a cornerstone for peace, reconciliation and the re‑establishment of national cohesion in the DRC.
