Dr. Du Thi Ngoc Thu honored with Unsung Hero award for transplantation work

Dr. Du Thi Ngoc Thu from Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City has been named the 2026 ‘Unsung Hero’ by Women in Transplantation (WIT). She is the first Vietnamese physician to receive this distinction.

The award was presented during the 31st International Congress of The Transplantation Society held in Sydney, Australia. The Unsung Hero category recognizes individuals who make profound, sustained impacts on the transplant community through behind-the-scenes work, such as mentorship, community service, and the development of effective organ donation coordination systems, even when such efforts are not captured in scientific publications.

Women in Transplantation is part of The Transplantation Society, a global organization with over 3,000 members across 105 countries dedicated to advancing the field of organ transplantation.
