Dr. Edie Widder’s Deep‑Sea Bioluminescence Featured in New Documentary

Director Tasha Van Zandt’s documentary *A Life Illuminated* explores the deep‑sea research of marine biologist Dr. Edie Widder. Filmed more than 3,000 feet below the ocean surface, the film shows Widder’s development of unobtrusive observation tools, including a far‑red “eye‑in‑the‑sea” camera system and an “electronic jellyfish” lure that attracted a live giant squid in 2012.
