Dr. Elcio Kuhnen hospitalized after campaign vehicle fall

Dr. Elcio Kuhnen, a candidate for state deputy and former two-term mayor of Camboriú, was hospitalized following an accident during a campaign event in Barra Velha, Santa Catarina. On Thursday afternoon, Kuhnen fell from a mini electric parade vehicle (trio elétrico), striking his head on a curb.

Medical examinations identified several injuries, including traumatic brain injury, a scalp wound, a complete fracture of the left clavicle, an incomplete fracture of the right scapula, a left knee injury, and muscular trauma in the posterior thoracic region. While he is conscious, able to recognize family members, and breathing without assistance, he remains on total bed rest.

Kuhnen was initially treated at a local health unit before being transferred to Hospital São José in Jaraguá do Sul. He is scheduled to undergo orthopedic surgery to fix the clavicle fracture using a plate and screws.
